The main upper level low is still spinning across central Texas this morning and will begin drifting northeast during the next few hours. This will bring some light showers to southeastern OK. We expect this activity to remain southeast of the Tulsa metro. Locations along and south of a line from McAlester to Muskogee will have a chance of precipitation this morning.
North surface winds will be common with temperatures in the 50s to near 60 today and the clouds this morning will slowly thin out later this afternoon to give us a partly sunny afternoon. Skies will clear out tonight into Friday morning and some fog will be possible before the south winds return Friday mid morning.
Friday afternoon highs will move into the upper 50s and lower 60s with mostly sunny conditions before a strong cold front arrives Friday night around 7pm. This boundary will usher in another stout cold air mass for Saturday, but the air will modify quickly and move eastward by Sunday bringing seasonally warm air back to the region through early next week.
Late Friday evening into pre-dawn Saturday we may still see a few small areas of showers across extreme northeastern Ok or southeastern Kansas but this chance is extremely low. We have been keeping a slight pop on the map for this possibility. The cold air intrusion will be short lived.
The warmer air will continue for Monday and Tuesday with gusty southwest surface winds in the 10 to 20 mph range. A few showers may be possible Tuesday across far eastern OK, but I'll keep these off the graphics for now. EURO keeps south winds Wednesday while GFS brings another front into the region. At this point, I'll side with EURO and keep us with south winds for this forecast cycle.
