A 42-year-old Bristow man is dead after crashing his Dodge pickup truck off a highway in Creek County late Tuesday.

The crash happened just before midnight on state Highway 117 near 33rd West Avenue.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Steven Buttrey was eastbound when his pickup left the roadway, went down an embankment and struck a concrete wall.

It took Sapulpa firefighters an hour and a half to extract Buttrey from the wreckage.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The OHP is still trying to determine why the pickup truck left the road.
