Green Country Marine's Motorcycle Stolen Just Before Christmas

It was a rude welcome home this holiday for one Green Country Marine.

This was the first Christmas in three years Jared Grim was home for the holiday, because he's either been serving in Afghanistan or been training.

Unfortunately, he fell victim to a crime that happens about 200 times every month in Tulsa; auto theft.

Just two days before Christmas, thieves stole Jared's motorcycle.

Grim always knew he'd go into the military, because service to country runs in his family.

So when he was 18, he became a U.S. Marine.

He served two tours in Afghanistan, first in 2008 and again in 2011. He got out in June and came home to Tulsa.

Grim saved his money, found just the bike he wanted, a Yamaha R6 and paid cash for it. Then he changed out the blinkers and the bike's back fender, something he's sure the thieves appreciated.

"Just felt like someone took a piece out of me or something like that. I haven't had anything stolen from me before," said Jared Grim.

Grim kept the bike under a cover, parked outside his apartment at 91st and Sheridan. Thieves took it on December 23, 2011 at about 5:30 a.m.

One of his neighbors saw the whole thing.

"Some lady called and said she saw two guys take off the cover and were working on it, and then they pushed it away. She didn't call the cops, seriously?" said Jared Grim.

Jared is afraid the motorcycle is going to be chopped up and sold.

He's been calling dealers and checking Craig's List, just in case it's still in one piece. If it is, he hopes someone will recognize it and call Tulsa Police.

"They better pray I don't find them first," said Jared Grim.

Ironically, two days later, when Jared opened his Christmas present from his brother, it was a lock for his bike, to prevent it from getting stolen. Other presents included a super nice motorcycle jacket and gloves.

But rather than let his first ever run in with thieves get him down, Jared just enjoyed being at home and not on a battlefield for Christmas.
