A family was lucky to escape an encounter with a drunk driver in Tulsa. Their ordeal took an even stranger turn when they learned a reality TV crew was riding along with the state troopers who responded to the scene.

The McSherry family – husband, wife and three kids – was exiting the IDL southbound on the Cincinnati bridge just after midnight Saturday when they saw headlights coming towards them.

"Someone was coming up the exit ramp," said Mark McSherry. His wife, Amanda, was behind the wheel. He said it looked like they were going to avoid the wreck when the other driver suddenly steered towards them.

"They changed their mind and turned towards us and then hit us dead on," he said.

The family was shaken up in the accident but sustained no serious injuries. Their youngest child, just three weeks old, slept through the wreck.

Nicholas Mancino, 33, was behind the wheel of a Chevy Blazer that was going the wrong way on the IDL exit ramp. He was arrested for driving under the influence.

The aftermath of the wreck was recorded by a crew from cable channel TLC. They were following around Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers to get footage for a new series called "DUI." The show, which premiered December 1, takes a look at the consequences of driving under the influence.
