A meat cutter at the Texas Roadhouse restaurant in Tulsa has advanced in the chain's Texas Roadhouse National Meat Cutting Challenge.
Chuck Alnett competed earlier this week in Oklahoma City in first round competition. He now moves on to the semi-finals in January, where he will compete against 20 other meat cutters.
If he wins, Alnett will advance to the finals in Florida in April 2012, for the grand prize of $20,000 and the "Meat Cutter of the Year" title.
Texas Roadhouse says as a meat cutter, Alnett is responsible for hand-cutting every steak that is served at Tulsa restaurant.
He works 7 to 8 hours a day in a 35 degree walk-in cooler.
During competition, the meat cutters showcase their skills during a timed "cut-off."
