The cold front is now located south of the area and gusty northeast winds will bring down some cooler air today and tonight. Afternoon highs in the lower to mid 50s will be common and some locations on the OK-Kansas state line could remain near 49 for afternoon highs. A mix of clouds will begin to form and move across the area during the morning to midday hours and should result in mostly cloudy conditions, but some localized sun breaks will be common.
This evening the wind will diminish and the clouds will clear allowing for temps to drop into the upper 20s and lower 30s area wide. This may be a hard freeze for locations near and north of Tulsa.
Afternoon highs Thursday will move into the mid 50s with a slight south wind developing to near 10 mph by late afternoon. Sunshine will be the dominate sky feature tomorrow with very little clouds.
Friday through the weekend another big system will be developing to our west. This will allow for very strong southerly surface winds Friday in the range of 20 to 35 mph.
This main upper level system will dive down from the Pacific Northwest and take the southern stream route lifting out across Texas and Ok early next week. Most model data support a boundary entering the state Sunday and becoming nearly stationary Monday and Tuesday while the powerful system approaches the state. Heavy rainfall seems likely with this pattern, and there may be a chance of severe storms with the system but the exact location of where this may occur could be more southward into Texas.
The consensus data supports the system exiting the southern plains Tuesday evening into We3dnesday leaving the Thanksgiving Holiday dry and mild.
