For the first time since 1999 the University of Tulsa has three consecutive players honored as Conference USA players of the week as Shawn Jackson was named the defensive player of the week after a big game against Marshall.
Jackson, a graduate of Tulsa's McClain high school, recorded nine tackles, with eight solo take downs and three tackles for loss in the Golden Hurricane's 59-17 win over Marshall.

The sophomore also had one pass break up in the game and among his tackles for loss he had one for -7 yards and a sack for -5 yards.
Jackson helped the TU defense to hold Marshall to less than 400 yards of total offense on only 37 plays for 148 yards.
Also honored the last two weeks with same award are Golden Hurricane linebacker Curnelius Arnick and defensive back Milton Howell.

The last time a team had three different players win the same award three weeks in a row was Southern Miss in 1999.
The conference also named Houston sophomore running back Charles Sims the offensive player of the week after her ran for 207 yards and two touchdowns in a victory at Tulane. Special Teams recognition went to Southern Miss senior kicker Danny Hrapmann, who hit five field goals in the Golden Eagles win over UCF.
The Golden Hurricane now prepares for its Nov. 19 matchup at UTEP. That game will kick off at 2 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.
