TULSA, Oklahoma – Glenpool did everything in its power to make its run for a district title on Friday night.
Other teams simply didn't do their part.
The Warriors topped the Harrah Panthers 20-13 in Glenpool, but needed a loss from Douglass as well, which they didn't get – Douglass won 61-14.
Both Glenpool and Harrah had already wrapped up playoff spots coming into the game, but bragging rights were still on the line.
But it was all Glenpool early as the home crowd watched their team jump out to a 14-0 lead.
If that wasn't enough, Connor Ferrell took a 77-yard punt return back in the early second half to up the lead to 20-0.
But that was the only Glenpool touchdown of the second half as the Warriors' offense shut down.
Harrah took advantage of that opportunity to rally. A short touchdown run cut the lead to 20-7 and then a 6-yard run moved the Panthers to within a touchdown at 20-13.
Harrah got the ball back late but was stopped on fourth down inside the Glenpool 20-yard line to finish out the game.
Despite finishing second in the district standings, Glenpool (6-4) still gets the honor of hosting Piedmont to start the playoffs.
Harrah (8-2) will travel to Bishop McGuinness to start the playoffs.
