Semi Filled With Sewer Sludge Overturns On Creek Turnpike

BROKEN ARROW, Oklahoma -- A City of Tulsa semi tanker truck carrying sewer sludge overturned on an onramp to the Creek Turnpike at 129th E. Avenue (or Olive Street) Monday morning.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the driver was going around a curve when the truck rolled over on its side. He was temporarily knocked unconscious and has been transported to a Tulsa hospital for observation.

The truck was transferring sludge from the Haikey Creek waste management site to another waste site.

Some sludge has seeped from the tanker onto a nearby trail.

Tulsa has another truck ready to transfer the load. They are going to try to right the overturned truck before the transfer.

Emergency workers at the scene said they did not think the driver was seriously injured.
