JOPLIN, Missouri -- Thousands of volunteers are busy this weekend helping Joplin rebuild from the historic tornado back in May.
Extreme Home Makeover: Home Edition is working on not one, but seven homes over the next week.
A third of the town was wiped out when the EF-5 twister cut a devastating path across Joplin. Organizers said they hope this new construction will spur even more people to begin rebuilding.
Rachel Neff is one of those helping out. She said she felt compelled to volunteer.
"I just wanted to pay it forward, I lost my home in the tornado and I really had a ton of help and wanted to give back to the community," Neff said.
Tulsa's Habitat for Humanity is also helping Joplin residents recover. Next weekend they'll break ground on the ten homes to be built in just two weeks.
