With the Conference USA and Mountain West Conference announcement over the weekend, Tulsa is potentially set to join a 22-team football only league. Commissioners for both leagues have set 2013 as the most likely starting point for the league but haven't ruled about beginning games as soon as next season.
Here's a breakdown of how Tulsa has fared against its future competition:
Tulsa's record against the would-be 2011-12 MWC members:
Air Force: 3-3
Nevada: 2-4
Fresno State: 1-4
Hawaii: 4-5
Boise State: 0-6
Colorado State: 4-3
New Mexico: 4-2
UNLV: 0-0
San Diego State: 2-2
Wyoming: 2-3
Overall: 22-32
For the record, Tulsa is 5-14 all-time against TCU, who is leaving the MWC to join the Big 12 in 2011-12.
Tulsa has a 23-10 regular season record against current C-USA members since joining the conference in 2005.
Combined record vs. teams that would be in MWC/C-USA merged league next season: 55-43
