TULSA, Oklahoma -- Tulsa had some very high-profile guests Friday afternoon. The famous Peabody ducks made a pit stop at the Hyatt Regency downtown.
They'd performed a special duck march for a large group in Colorado Springs and are on their way back home to the Little Rock Peabody. But, they needed a place to stretch their wings and relax for awhile.
The TULSA Hyatt was happy to help-out -- they even took the ducks down the street to the park.
"I was lucky enough to work with the world-famous Peabody Hotel Group years ago and so I've shuttled a few ducks in my day. So, it was nothing; it was like water rolling off a duck's back," said Todd Scholl of Tulsa Hyatt Regency.
Having ducks in the Peabody is a tradition that started at the Memphis hotel back in the 1930s after a hunting trip.
News On 6 reporter Rick Wells even went to Memphis to see them for himself in 1995. He found the ducks spend their days swimming in the lobby fountain then marching to the elevator to get to their rooftop perch for the night.
