TULSA, Oklahoma -- A man was in critical condition after wrecking his SUV on the Creek Turnpike overnight Saturday. Tulsa police were called to the scene just after 1 a.m. when witnesses reported the man's truck going eastbound in the westbound lanes of the turnpike near the intersection with U.S. Highway 169.
Other drivers honked, trying to get the man's attention, according to Corporal Brian Collum with the Tulsa Police Department.
The man lost control of his Ford Explorer while driving at a high rate of speed at a bend in the road, Collum said. The SUV rolled, and the driver was ejected, landing in the middle of the highway.
EMSA crews took the driver to a local hospital where he was in critical condition early Saturday.
He was not wearing a seatbelt. Police had not determined if alcohol was a factor in the wreck.
