CLAREMORE, Oklahoma -- The Air Evac Lifeteam base in Claremore has been the 2011 Region 4 Most Improved Base of the Year.
In a news release, Air Evac Lifeteam says the base was chosen out of 187 bases in the region, which includes Oklahoma and Arkansas.
The Regional Most Improved Base of the Year award is presented to the base in the Air Evac Lifeteam system that has shown the greatest marked improvements in flight volume growth, staff retention and market expansion during the prior 12 months.
"At this time last year our base needed some improvement. Many changes were taking place and the staff was hesitant about some of those changes. Requests for flights were okay, but they were not setting any records and outreach education was minimal," explained Program Director Wende Teague.
Teague says crews pride themselves on safety and excellent patient care.
The Claremore base was first established in January 2003 in Tulsa and then relocated to Claremore in ten months later.
Air Evac Lifeteam has 104 bases in 15 states.
