JENKS, Oklahoma – One of the benefits of being a top baseball team in the state is that you get to host a regional tournament. Jenks has been one of the best 6A teams this year. And the Trojans were rewarded by being named one of the regional hosts.
Jenks opened up the regional tournament on Wednesday afternoon as they took on Muskogee, a team they beat 17-3 earlier this season.
The good news for the Roughers is that they kept Jenks off the board in the first inning. The bad news for the Roughers is that they still had several more innings to play.
Jenks got the scoring started in the 2nd inning as an RBI single put them up 1-0. Then, the Trojans really broke things open in the 3rd, scoring 6 runs to take a 7-0 lead. Things would only get worse for Muskogee from there. And when all the damage was done, Jenks had opened the regional tournament with a big win.
Both teams are still alive in the tournament. Muskogee will be back on the field on Wednesday night as they play Bixby. Jenks next game will be Thursday afternoon when they take on Ponca City.
