TULSA, Oklahoma – Bishop Kelley is one of the top 5A teams in the state. Because of that, the Comets got to host their regional tournament and, thanks to an odd number of teams, they also got a first round bye.
In the first game of the day in their regional, Memorial beat Collinsville 8-3. That meant Collinsville had to get right back on the field to take on Bishop Kelley.
The rested Comets did strike first, scoring 2 runs in the top of the 1st to take an early lead. But the Cardinals would not give up. They struck back with 3 runs in the 3rd to take the lead. However, that was both the beginning and the end of their offense in the game. Kelley responded with 6 unanswered runs and they pick up the 8-3 win over the Cardinals.
That loss was Collinsville’s 2nd of the tournament and that means their season is over. Bishop Kelley moves on in the regional tournament and would go on to play Memorial later in the day.
