SAPULPA, Oklahoma – Booker T Washington is going back to the state semifinals after beating the Duncan Demons 69-38 Thursday.
The undefeated and top-ranked team in 5A wasn’t expected to have any problems with Duncan, but the Demons kept it respectable in the first quarter. They used an 8-2 run to pull within seven points at the end of the first quarter. The first quarter was also marked by three near-dunks by the Hornets, one of them an alley-oop attempt that sophomore Juwan Parker just missed. It was Booker T senior guard Korey Billbury who led all scorers with 19 points. Duncan’s Jared Griffin led the Demons with 13 points.
With this win, Booker T Washington will play in the state semifinals against Tulsa Memorial at the Mabee Center Friday at 9 am. It will be the fourth time the two teams have met this season, with the Hornets winning the previous three meetings by an average of 19 points.
