SAPULPA, Oklahoma – The Tulsa Memorial Chargers’ quest to win their first state title since 2008 will continue after they beat No. 8 Carl Albert 70-59 Thursday.
After building a 34-28 lead going into halftime, Memorial went flat to start out the third quarter and the Titans were able to pull within two points two separate times in the third frame. But the play of senior standout Dah’quan Royal helped the Chargers keep Carl Albert at arms’ length for the rest of the way; Royal had a game-high 28 points.
In the state semifinals tomorrow, Memorial will face Booker T in a rematch of last year’s state title game. In three previous meetings this season, the Hornets have outscored the Chargers by an average of 19 points. The state semifinal game will held at the Mabee Center Friday at 9 am.
