BROKEN ARROW, Oklahoma – The Will Rogers Lady Ropers are headed to state for the first time since 1996 after downing McAlester on Saturday 52-45.
The Lady Buffs hung with Rogers for most of the game, thanks in large part to the contributions of Lashanda Green and Allison Eales, who each had a team-high 13 points. With 5 minutes to go in regulation, McAlester had pulled to within 2 points of the Lady Ropers. But Rogers was not going to be denied on this day, outscoring the Lady Ropers 18-13 down the stretch to bring the area title back to Rogers. 6’1” senior Lady Roper Ashley Jones led all scorers with 19 points.
With their loss on Saturday afternoon, the McAlester Lady Buffs are eliminated from the playoffs.
