OKLAHOMA CITY – The Graham Chieftains maintained a dominant lead through all four quarters to beat the Red Oak Eagles 63-41.
The Chieftains got off to an early lead, going on a 10-0 run to open the game and ended the first quarter of play by leading 20-6.
Within the first eight minutes of play, all five starters scored, shifting the momentum in favor of Graham. By halftime, the Chieftains had extended their lead to 25-13. They held all but two Eagles players scoreless, with exception to Jordan Booth, who closed the half with 10 of Red Oak’s 13 points.
Graham continued to hold off Red Oak in the third quarter, allowing only eight points while posting an additional 11 points, including a long 3 by Kyle Hart to close the quarter, bringing the score to 36-23.
The Chieftains started the fourth in similar, potent fashion, as Hart got an inbounds pass for a dunk to open the final eight minutes of play. Red Oak’s Brandon Brewer tried to keep his team in the game, hitting a fade away jumper to bring the score to 38-25, but Graham continued to inch ahead.
Graham was led by Hart, who finished with 20 points, including three 3's. Both Brandon Jack and Chase Smith finished with 11 apiece, while Zach Mitchell had a nine-point game.
Red Oak’s Booth ended with 15 points, followed by Dwight Camp’s 11 pionts.
The Chieftains will play for the program’s first state title Saturday at 8:30 p.m.
