TULSA, Oklahoma – Today, we start our Green Country Conference Top 5 series. These players are the best of the best in one of the toughest leagues in the state.

Comprised of Tulsa public high schools, the GCC boasts over 2 dozen state championships and four teams in the current CoachesAid.com top 10. With the 5A boys’ playoffs tipping off this Friday, these five players are hoping to carry their regular season success into the postseason.

We begin with Central junior guard Revey Norton. He’s only been playing basketball since the 7th grade, but he has grown into a major contributor for the Braves. Norton is one of the top scorers in the conference, averaging 18 points per game.

“My dad, he always tells me, ‘Just don’t think about nothing’,” Revey said about one of his biggest influences. “’Just always try to get yours and have fun’. That’s what my coach says, too.”

At just over six feet tall, what really stands out about Norton is how high he can jump.

His nickname is Air Norton.

“The first thing that comes to mind is that he brings enthusiasm and athleticism,” explained first-year Central head coach Eli Brown III. “He’s a hard worker, and he comes every practice ready to practice.”

Central last won a state basketball championship in 2006, and leave it to Norton to explain how they’re going to win another one.

“Blood, sweat and tears. Blood, sweat and tears.”

Part two of our series continues tomorrow when we’ll highlight a standout from Tulsa Memorial.
