EDMOND, Oklahoma -- Edmond Public Schools gets its money’s worth from Jeremy Dombeck.
Not only does he serve as the Edmond North head football coach, in the offseason he is the voice of the Huskies’ basketball squads, because he’d be at the games anyway.
“I’m a fan of Edmond North. I love it here and I love to watch our kids compete,” Dombeck said. “I feel like I get to contribute and be part of the action without having to yell as much at the officials.”
It’s a position familiar to Dombeck. While coaching at Plainview High School, he also served as the PA announcer. When he got to Edmond North, he made it clear that he was willing to fill in and was called upon when his predecessor retired mid-season.
“[Athletic Director] Tom [Snyder] was in a bind one night and said ‘I need you to announce tonight’ so I did,” Dombeck said. “It’s been a blast and I love it. I’m glad I’ve had the opportunity to do it.”
Despite his love for the new job and the fans’ approval, don’t expect Dombeck to put aside his whistle and leave the gridiron behind.
“I’ve got a terrible voice,” Dombeck said. “I just love to watch the games.”
