WAGONER, Oklahoma - In a move that almost no one saw coming, Wagoner QB Prince McJunkins is going to Georgia Southern.
In a conversation with Oklahoma Sports Wednesday morning, McJunkins said he sent the paperwork in that morning. He also spoke well of his visit to the FCS powerhouse in the last weekend of January. McJunkins said he and his family "loved it," using words like "up front," "honest" and "caring" to describe the GSU staff.
This pick was quite a surprise; in a conversation with Oklahoma Sports a few weeks ago, McJunkins indicated that Louisiana-Monroe and Pittsburg State (KS) were his front-runners. At least one recruiting service even had him as a ULM commit.
Surprisingly, when asked about his visit to ULM, he described the situation as "really dysfunctional." He added that the assistant coaches were not on the same page about what his role on the team would be, and said they were "clashing."
Last season, Georgia Southern made it to the FCS semifinals, falling to Delaware. The Eagles have the most national championships - six - of any FCS school.
