TULSA, Oklahoma -- Booker T. Washington head coach, and former TU star, Shea Seals has informed Tulsa athletic director Bubba Cunningham his wishes to defer his induction into the school’s Hall of Fame this year.
“In light of the circumstances in my personal life, I believe it is best for the University and this class of inductees to move forward without me,” Seals said in a press release. “I do not, in any way, want to be a distraction to Mike, Coach Cooper and the soccer team in what is a very special day for them.”
Seals was arrested early Sunday morning for suspicion of DUI and was suspended indefinitely by Tulsa Public Schools during the investigation.
“I want to thank Tulsa Public Schools System and my Booker T. Washington family for their concerns over my personal life issues,” Seals said. “I am very sorry for any negative publicity which may have been cast on the TPS family over the events of the past few days.”
Seals led the Golden Hurricane basketball team to four NCAA Tournament appearances and finished his TU career as the school’s all-time leading scorer.
