Morris-Henryetta has always been a great rivalry, with enough back story accumulated over the years to fill several books. In any sport where they meet, both sides are going to give all they have to win.
During Friday night’s latest installment, the 3A No. 5 Lady Eagles lost 57-55 to the 3A No. 8 Lady Knights, while the boys rallied to top Henryetta 48-47.
Morris took advantage of Henryetta’s nerves, the Lady Eagles scored the game’s first 13 points, Henryetta would rally, however; with three quarters to play Morris’ lead was 15-12.
Putting it mildly, it was a very physical, highly intense game, Morris players were bounced around like pin balls.
Morris led at halftime 30-29, the chaos continued in the third quarter, the Lady Eagles led 36-33 halfway through and 42-40 with eight minutes left. As the adrenaline level throughout the arena soared, the score was tied at 47 with 3:42 to go.
Both teams were in foul trouble, Henryetta made more free throws, winning 57-55. Haley Robinson had a terrific night on offense, scoring 24 points, Amanda Lee had 13, Sandra Morgan four, Megan Milroy three, and Bailey King had two.
