YUKON, Oklahoma -- The Hennessey Eagles took a big lead early and held off a comeback by the Millwood Falcons – who were without the aid of star Josh Turner due to an knee injury – to win 29-28 to advance to the Class 2A State Title game.

Hennessey jumped out to an early 22-8 lead early in the second quarter, helped along by a 25-yard pick-six by Orlando Pina and a 26-yard score by Trey Leu, but the talented Falcons wouldn’t be held in check.

Millwood scored 14 unanswered points, touchdown grabs by Dametric Sanders and Michael Ervin, to tie the game 22-22 halfway through the third quarter.

Early in the fourth quarter, Ivan Moreno punched it in from five yards out for the Eagles to put them back on top 29-22, but Millwood would once again answer.

Kevonte Richardson, determined to keep the Falcons’ season alive, scored with 9:26 left in the game to put Millwood back within one. However, the PAT attempt failed and Falcons were unable to make up the one-point differential.

Hennessey will now take on the Davis Wolves for the Class 2A Gold Ball at T. Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater at a time and date that has yet to be announced.
