TULSA, Oklahoma – Despite being in a dog-fight at the start, the Cascia Hall Commandos advance to the second round by beating Inola 47-21.
After Cascia Hall’s impressive regular season, where they went 10-1 and undefeated in district, the Commandos’ first round matchup with Inola wasn’t supposed to be much of a game. But, if you watched just the first quarter, you would have thought Inola had a fighting chance. The score after one period of play: Cascia Hall 7, Inola 0.
At the start of the second quarter, Inola used its run game to get on the board, as senior running back Jacob Smith punched it in from short yardage to even the score at 7. Just minutes later, Cascia Hall’s Patrick Bass broke an 83-yard touchdown run. Commando quarterback Thomas Rouse followed that up with a nice fade pass to the back of the endzone to Timmy Curthoys, and all of the sudden, Cascia was looking more like Cascia, leading 21-7.
The Commandos would take control from there and win 47-21. The Inola Longhorns finish the season at 5-6. Cascia Hall advances to round two where they will face Seminole next Friday at 7:30 pm.
