LAWTON, Oklahoma – The Lawton Wolverines live to see another day in postseason after beating the Edmond Memorial Bulldogs 28-13 to advance to the second round of the playoffs.
Lawton head coach Randy Beeze said the key to the whole ballgame was Edmond Memorial’s Kameron Doolittle.
The Bulldogs’ head coach Justin Meredith said before the game he was as healthy as he was going to be, which was about 80 percent, according to Doolittle himself.
It proved to be true as he helped drive his Bulldogs down the field on their opening drive. He had a 20-yard run that set up for first and goal from the one and Ry Huff punched it in. Memorial took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter.
Lawton answered back, taking a 21-10 lead into half. Memorial kicked a 45-yard field goal at the end of the first half.
The Lawton defense, however, would not allow another touchdown.
Memorial settled for two field goals after Lawton held them from scoring in the red zone.
Deaquan Wojciechowski had a huge night, rushing for 188 yards. He had a punt return for a kickoff, a 14-yard touchdown and an 18-yard touchdown.
Lawton stays perfect at 11-0 heading into round two of the playoffs, where they’ll host Broken Arrow Friday Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m.
