MIDWEST CITY – The Midwest City Bombers sustained their perfect record and did so in impressive fashion, defeating Edmond Memorial 34-14 on Thursday.
The teams traded touchdowns early, but an 80-yard run from Midwest City’s James Flanders put the Bombers up 14-7 and began the rout.
His touchdown was the first of three straight unanswered, as the Bombers added two more rushing scores to lead 28-7 early in the second quarter.
Memorial mustered one more touchdown before the half from quarterback Ry Huff – who scored both of the Bulldogs’ touchdowns in the game – to cut the lead to 28-14.
Flanders, who rushed for 175 yards, added another rushing touchdown near the end of the game to give the Bombers their final margin of victory.
Midwest City improved to 8-0 (5-0 in district) and will take on the Lawton Eisenhower Eagles in Lawton next week.
Edmond Memorial (5-3, 2-3) will host the Norman North Timberwolves.
