OKLAHOMA CITY – The Guthrie Blue Jays remained undefeated in district play Friday with a 32-14 victory over the Carl Albert Titans.
The game was a showdown between the top two teams in District 5A-1, giving the Blue Jays (6-1, 4-0) sole possession of first place. Only Ada has threatened Guthrie in district play; in their other three contests, the Blue Jays have won by a combined score of 129-21.
Carl Albert (5-2, 3-1) had previously coasted through district play as well, having scored more than 50 points in each of its first three games. Despite the loss, the Titans remain a near-lock for the playoffs.
They will face Ada (4-3, 3-1) next week in a game that could go a long way toward determining both teams’ playoff positioning, while Guthrie will play El Reno (2-5, 1-3).
