TULSA, Oklahoma – In what was perhaps the game of the week, the Tulsa Memorial Chargers held off a crazy ending for a 35-33 win over Thomas Edison.
Edison (1-1) trailed 35-26 with less than two minutes left, when Jon McArtor recorded his third touchdown catch of the game to cut the lead to two. With 90 seconds left, the Eagles managed to recover an onside kick to get the ball back with a chance to win.
The Memorial (1-1) defense stepped up and held the Eagles to a turnover on downs. The Chargers kneeled to run out the clock and seal the win.
Memorial has fought through two very close games in its first two weeks. In Week 1, the Chargers fell 15-12 to Tulsa Central. They will move on to face Claremore next week.
Edison won its first game of the year in a 40-7 blowout of McLain. The Eagles will face Cascia Hall (1-1) next week.
