OKLAHOMA CITY – At Oklahoma Sports Media Day Saturday, Muskogee head coach Matt Hennesy focused on how inexperienced his players were last season. That won’t be a problem this year.
The young Roughers had a rough start to the 2009 season, losing their first five games and three of them in blowouts. But as the team gained experience, the level of play increased.
Muskogee won three of its final five games and qualified for a playoff berth before losing in the first round to Edmond Memorial.
Hennesy said Saturday that his team focused on conditioning during the summer, and his players said they have been able to see a difference.
When asked what game they are looking forward to the most, the players gave three different answers. Hennesy said the fact that they could give so many legitimate answers to that question shows how tough their schedule is.
Hennesy added that he has no desire to face Union in the first round of the playoffs, so he is focused on finishing at least third in their district.
