LAWTON, Oklahoma -- Lawton quarterback Cody Miller only has one scholarship offer, from Louisiana-Monroe. Despite the lack of offers, coach Randy Breeze is confident his three-year starter at quarterback will land at a big-time school.
“There are 10 quarterbacks in America that everybody wants, but they’re only going to 10 schools,” said Breeze. “There’s a million schools looking at him and everybody likes him a great deal.”
And they like him with good reason.
In his junior year, the 6-foot-5 quarterback passed for more than 2,100 yards and 20 touchdowns in his junior season, while adding another 13 scores on the ground. Combined with the talents of No. 15 prospect Tyrequek Zimmerman, his coaches' jobs become fairly easy.
“Having [Zimmerman and Miller] is a coach’s dream,” said Breeze. “Those two alone are a pretty good offensive package.”
The familiarity is one thing that Miller appreciates going into his final season.
“Throwing to people I’m comfortable with is always better,” said Miller. “They know the game and we have good chemistry together so it’s always good.”
As for the scholarship, Miller doesn’t have a preference yet, but will know where he is headed when the other offers start to roll in.
“Any college that’s willing to pay for me, that’s my favorite,” said Miller. “I’ll know in my heard what’s right and I’ll choose that.”
