NORMAN, Oklahoma – Lawton MacArthur is moving on to the girl’s state tournament for the first time since 2005. The Lady Highlanders erased a four-point deficit with 45 seconds to go and rallied back to defeat El Reno 32-30 at Norman North High School.
Trailing by three with less than 30 seconds to play, Lawton Mac’s Alexis French drove inside and scored, plus French was fouled. She knocked down the free throw to tie the game at 30.
After the foul shot, El Reno turned the ball over underneath Lawton Mac’s goal. Hali Lindsey created the turnover and scored from close range to give the Lady Highlanders the final points in the game with time running out.
French led all scorers with 15 points, while Charissa Jones paced the Indians with nine points, all nine coming from the foul line.
