MOORE, Oklahoma – The Southmoore Sabercats moved to 2-0 Friday with a 34-0 blowout of rival Westmoore in the annual Moore War.
Southmoore quarterback Kendal Thompson carved up the Westmoore defense all night. He broke a 53-yard run to score the Sabercats’ first touchdown and take a 10-0 lead. Thompson then threw a 42-yard touchdown pass to Derek Serowski to build that lead to 17-0.
The Sabercats then took advantage of Westmoore mistakes to extend their lead to 34-0 at halftime. Officials then called off the rest of the game because of weather, giving Southmoore the win.
For the Sabercats to continue their undefeated season, they will need to go on the road Sept. 18 to take on Midwest City, which won its district last season and demolished Moore 48-0 in its last game.
