TULSA, Oklahoma – Unfortunately for the Tulsa Shock, coming close can still end up as another notch in the loss column.
The Shock had one of their best opportunities to pick up an elusive second win, but fell 76-68 to the Atlanta Dream on Tuesday night.
Atlanta's Angel McCoughtry went off for 37 points to lead her team to victory despite Tulsa's best efforts.
The Dream snapped a three-game road losing streak as the Shock fell to 1-15 on the season.
Things didn't look good for Tulsa at halftime as a layup from former Sooner Courtney Paris at the buzzer gave Atlanta a 41-26 lead at the break.
The Shock's rally came almost entirely in the fourth quarter. Instead of a big run, Tulsa slowly chipped away at the Dream's lead until it pulled to within three on an Ivory Latta jumper with less than four minutes to play.
But the comeback wasn't enough as Tulsa lost its 10th straight.
Tiffany Jackson had 11 points and 17 boards to lead the Shock, and Liz Cambage scored 16.
Courtney Paris had six points in 16 minutes for Atlanta.
The Shock will host the Chicago Sky on Thursday at 7 p.m.
