TULSA, Oklahoma – After a strong start to a four-game series with Arkansas, the Drillers had to settle for a split.
The Travelers topped Tulsa 5-2 on Monday at ONEOK Field, splitting the series after Tulsa took the first two games on Friday and Saturday.
The Drillers took a 1-0 lead in the third on a home run from Tim Wheeler, his 29th of the season.
With the way the Tulsa pitching staff had been performing in recent games, any lead seemed like a solid lead.
But Arkansas' bats came through for them, combining for three runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
Tulsa's only other run of the game came on an RBI single from Brian Rike to score Hector Gomez, but it wasn't enough as Arkansas would tack on two insurance runs at the end.
The Drillers' Cory Riordan was credited with the loss, giving up three runs and nine hits in six innings.
Tulsa will start a series at Northwest Arkansas at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
