Goodbye MJ

Marion Jones was never worthy of a roster spot. She didn't score worth a lick. She was a turnover machine. Finally, they cut her loose. Not sure what took so long.

The PR stunt is over. One can only assume that the Tulsa Shock is, for the first time ever, down to business. Nolan is gone. Now, Marion Jones is out too. Teresa Edwards is cracking the whip over there at the BOK Center and people are starting to get twitchy.

Marion Jones was never worthy of a roster spot. She didn't score worth a lick. She was a turnover machine. She DID do a pretty good job getting steals, but you gotta have more in your bag of tricks than that. Finally, they cut her loose. Not sure what took so long.

Does this mean that the team is going to win a bunch of games? Unlikely. Will they be more competitive? Who knows.

I know this: The Shock was held hostage by Nolan and MJ. From an outsider's point of view, they looked like they were brought in as PR gimmicks more so than basketball pieces.

"Let's get the Tulsa coach! He'll sell tickets on his rep alone."

"Hey, that sprinter chick, the one that went to prison, can she still play? Kind of? Great! Sign her too!"

Basketball players and WNBA minds are prevailing with the Shock now. Maybe they will get back in the win column soon.

At least they have an all-star.
