SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – The Drillers seem to have a natural inclination for some games with big stats this season.
Tulsa downed the Springfield Cardinals 13-8 on the road on Monday night while once again racking up the hits.
The Drillers compiled 15 hits in the game, but also allowed 14 hits in the process.
They started off on fire, racking up a 9-0 lead after three innings.
But Springfield managed to make things a little bit interesting. The Cardinals fired off six straight runs to pull back to within three heading into the sixth inning.
Hector Gomez racked up an RBI in the sixth and the Springfield pitching staff walked home a run to increase the Drillers' lead once again.
Cardinals' pitcher Jorge Rondon didn't help matters for his team in the end, allowing two Tulsa runners to score on back-to-back pitches in the ninth.
Wilin Rosario and Hector Gomez both racked up four hits each in the game, with Gomez tallying an impressive seven RBIs and two homers.
Stephen Dodson got the win pitching for the Drillers, throwing two innings and giving up two hits.
Tulsa will play at Springfield again at 7:07 p.m. on Tuesday night.
