COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado – University of Oklahoma sophomore Emily Collins is making her life-long dream come true this weekend as she competes in the U.S. Women's Open.
This year's tournament, which begins first-round play Thursday, has been something the Sooner golfer has dreamed about since she was a kid.
"It's kind of been like one of those things you are talking to your parents when you're little like oh I am going to play at the U.S. Open someday and I never really thought it would happen at this age, but it always has been a goal," said Collins.
Collins was one of three golfers who qualified for U.S. Women's Open in May at the sectional qualifier at the 6,425-yard, par-71 Prestonwood Country Club in Plano, Texas.
"I've tried to qualify the past three years I think, and to do it on my third try, is pretty big," added Collins.
Fans can follow Collins during the tournament via her day-by-day diary.
