LAKE EUFAULA, Oklahoma -- The Pittsburg County Sheriff's Office says a cow that became stranded on an island after rising flood waters in Lake Eufaula is now safe.
Pittsburg County Sheriff Joel Kerns called News On 6 Wednesday morning to say deputies got the cow to swim to shore Tuesday evening.
Kerns says deputies used a boat to guide the cow to the shoreline. They fed it some more hay and let it go.
Earlier this week, Kerns say the cow apparently wandered onto an island between Rock Creek and the Crowder Point area of Lake Eufaula, and then became stranded when the water rose.

Kerns said the cow is now on land that belongs to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and no one has claimed ownership.
Vultures had been swarming above waiting for nature to take its course, but the cow proved victorious.
