Strong Storms Move Across Northeast Oklahoma

Parts of northeast Oklahoma were pounded with heavy rain and high winds as severe storms moved across the state Thursday.

TULSA, Oklahoma – A line of strong and severe storms prompted tornado warnings for at least two northeast Oklahoma counties Thursday afternoon.

Tornado warnings were issued for Washington and northeastern Osage counties. Damaging winds were reported near Bigheart, but there were no reports of any injuries.

News On 6 Chief Meteorologist Travis Meyer called the line of storms, which moved in from Kansas, "intense."

Temperatures are expected to heat up for the weekend.  Saturday's high is expected to reach 98 degrees, with lows only in the mid to upper 70's.

 "South winds from 15 to 30 mph will be common as temperatures move into the mid and upper 90s across northeastern OK with triple digit weather likely across central and western OK," News On 6 Meteorologist Alan Crone said.
