Tulsa Police: Two Unrelated Crashes Into Utility Poles

TULSA, Oklahoma -- Tulsa Police worked two crashes early Thursday morning involving vehicles hitting utility poles.

The first happened at 2 a.m. at 31st and Harvard.

A police officer driving south on Harvard noticed a Lexus in front of him lose control and strike a pole.

The Lexus snapped the pole causing a minor power outage in the area.  The driver was not injured.

Police say the man told them he had been texting on his cell phone when the crash occurred.

A short time later and about a mile away, Tulsa Police officers got a report of a Jeep which had struck a utility pole.

When officers arrived at 31st and Lewis, they saw the driver running away.

He was arrested on a DUI complaint and taken to the Tulsa County jail.

Police say the Jeep was headed south on Lewis when it struck the pole.
