TULSA, Oklahoma -- The Brookside area of midtown Tulsa is known for its restaurants and bars, so the opening of a new bar in Brookside shouldn't be a surprise.

But an olive oil and vinegar bar, might be unusual enough to check out.

Mecca Coffee Company has been selling bulk coffee tea and spices for 90 years. When owners Michell and Charlie Culbreath were looking for something new to add, they found olive oil and vinegar.

"It just fit with what we do with bulk spices and bulk teas and bulk coffee...why not bulk olive oil and vinegar," Michell said.

They've been working on this for about six months. Finally it all came together about 2 weeks ago.

Many people use olive oil for the health benefits. It has high levels of monounsaturated fat, that's good for heart health.

"The poly phenol count is really what you want to look at," Michell said.

Don't be too intimidated. It's a little like going to the perfume counter at the department store. Tasting is the only way to figure it out.
