I love it when I hear someone say, “Well their defense has trouble with athletic, mobile quarterbacks.” Well what defense doesn’t? If every offense could find an athletic, mobile quarterback who can throw the ball like Robert Griffin or Cam Newton then no defense would ever have a prayer.

Let’s face it the only thing that scares OSU about Saturday’s game with Baylor is Griffin. The Cowboys had trouble with Nebraska’s athletic, mobile Taylor Martinez. There’s only one difference between Martinez and Griffin: Griffin’s better. He’s faster and a much better passer.

I think the Cowboys will take more chances defensively Saturday against Griffin than they did Martinez. They didn’t blitz very often against Martinez for fear that he would break containment out of the pocket and burn them with his legs. Instead, his offensive line gave Martinez all day to throw and he sliced and diced the Cowboys with his arm.

This, however, is a two-way fight and I expect OSU to have a field day against the Bears’ defense. Baylor gave up 291 yards rushing in its loss to TCU. The Cowboys will be the best rushing team the Bears have seen since then.

As we saw last week at Kansas State, OSU offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen is not all pass all the time. He’s all win right now. The Cowboys controlled the second half by handing the ball to Kendall Hunter. They should be able to do the same against Baylor and more run game with Hunter and Joe Randle means less time for Griffin’s explosiveness.

The Bears will have the best offensive player on the field. After that, the Cowboys will have at least the next three in Brandon Weeden, Justin Blackmon and Hunter. I expect that to be enough to get the job done.

Cowboys 42 Bears 31
