TULSA, Oklahoma – The Tulsa Shock waived Italee Lucas and Juanita Ward Wednesday, trimming their roster to 13 players as the team travels to Seattle for its first exhibition game against Sunday.
Lucas, who the Shock selected in the second round of the 2011 WNBA Draft averaged 15.8 points on 43.4 percent shooting from the field during her senior season at North Carolina.
Ward, who made Tulsa's final roster in 2010 returned to this year's training camp after a successful season playing in Bulgaria. While overseas she won the Most Valuable and Defensive player of the year awards.
The Shock now have 13 total players on its roster and will again trim the list to 11 by June 2.
Sunday, Tulsa travels to Seattle to face the Storm, and the Shock will open the season June 4 on the road against San Antonio.
The home opener against San Antonio is on June 10 at 7 p.m. at the BOK Center.
