ROUND ROCK, Texas -- Oklahoma City held an early lead, but one big inning gave Round Rock a 5-4 win Monday, their first of the four-game road series against the Express.
Trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the seventh, Matt Kata reached base after being hit by a pitch and scored three batters later on a Kevin Cash single to center tying the game 2-2. Two at-bats later, Endy Chavez doubled to left field to bring Cash and Estaban German home to give Round Rock (13-6) a 5-2 advantage.
The RedHawks (6-12) tried to make a comeback, with an RBI single from Brian Bogusevic and Tommy Manzella in the top of the eighth, but couldn’t come all of the way back.
Ryan Tucker (1-1) was credited with a win for the outing after not allowing a hit in his 1.2 innings of service for the Express. Ross Wolf (0-1) received his first loss for the outing, giving up two hits and four earned runs in his 1.1 innings of service.
Oklahoma City will close out the four-game series with Round Rock at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday before taking a travel day and starting a four-game series at 7 p.m. Thursday against New Orleans.
