OKLAHOMA CITY -- Despite trailing 2-0 in the series, the Oklahoma City Barons hosted their first ever home playoff game and topped Hamilton 2-0 in the North Division Final Tuesday.
Both goalies kept a clean sheet heading into the third period, but Oklahoma City finally managed to crack the scorers’ sheet as the game wound down. Colin McDonald scored the game’s first goal with the assist from Brad Morant and Alexandre Giroux.
Giroux scored his first playoff goal seven minutes later, this time unassisted to add some insurance for the Barons.
Despite struggling on the road, Martin Gerber (1-2) kept the Bulldogs off of the board, stopping all 26 shots on the evening. Drew MacIntyre (2-1) had already allowed three goals in the playoffs, and allowed two more Tuesday on Oklahoma City’s 46 shots.
The two teams will take the ice again at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday, giving Oklahoma City a chance to even the series at two games each.
