NORMAN, Oklahoma -- The Sooners’ list of wide receivers seems to be dwindling as the team heads into the Red/White game April 16.
Highly-touted red shirt freshman Justin McCay got good news about his knee injury. It’ll repair on its own and will not require surgery—diagnosed as a strained medial collateral ligament.
Sophomore Kenny Stills continues to nurse an injured hamstring, and will likely not see playing time in the spring game.
Star Ryan Broyles will be held out. The OU coaching staff knows what he can do and they won’t want to risk injury. Receivers Coach Jay Norvell joked, “Ryan will play over my dead body.”
Sheldon McClain will also sit out after breaking his collarbone. Coach Bob Stoops said wide receiver Joe Powell was moved to cornerback position and “had a couple of great practices.”
