TULSA, Okla. – University of Tulsa head coach Bill Blankenship announced Wednesday that redshirt freshman Kalen Henderson and grayshirt freshman Zik Asiegbu have been suspended indefinitely for violations of team policy.
Henderson is a quarterback who redshirted last season for the Hurricane, and Asiegbu is a linebacker who enrolled at TU in January and participated in spring drills. The violations the players committed were not released.
Blankenship also said receiver Jameel Owens will not return for his junior season. Owens had been on a leave of absence during spring drills, but told Blankenship that he will not be returning to the school.
Owens first attended the University of Oklahoma before transferring to TU in January 2010. He left OU in order to be close to his ill mother who lived in Muskogee, and was granted a full transfer waiver in order to be eligible immediately. He caught 18 passes for 246 yards and six touchdown last season.
